Who doesn’t love a little DEVO inspiration?
I have been working on some works in progress (WIPs) and finally getting to see the top of my sewing work table! It’s both frustrating (because I want to sew other things) and awesome (because I will sew much better when I have a table to sew on.)
Here is a lovely pinafore I made for a dear 1 year old’s birthday. It’s the Imagine Gnats RolyPoly Pinafore in home decor fabric by Joel Dewberry.
The home decor fabric is just perfect. It provides a thicker level of protection from baby goo, and holds it shape while the little one learns to crawl. The pinafore is a super easy pattern and came together in an hour or so, once I traced the appropriate size. I have a 2 year old niece who might be getting a triple set of these for Christmas. I love my sparkly buttons too! All of this made from my stash, so even better!
I also finished two metal frame clutch purses I must have cut out months ago, as they were on a tray, under fabric, on my table, beneath more patterns I have traced and such. One is a gift for my sewing buddy from the WhipStitch sewing buddy trade, and one if for me. Guess which one I am keeping?
The Echino fabric made a lovely purse indeed. I matched it so it is green on the same side, with birds on one side and butterflies on the other. The gold frame was just the right color! Inside, I quilted with some decorative stitches the interfacings together.
I really hope she likes it! Echino with a linen interior.
You must know me well enough by now to know my geekiness can not be denied! I can’t decide if I want to use this Star Wars bag for a cosmetics bag (I am collecting nail polish lately) or if it should be used out on the town, to make everyone envious!
Alas, I should have snapped a photo of the inside of this bag. It has the secret plans for the building of the death star in blue print!
I do love making these bags! They are easy to make your own pattern and come together quickly. If you choose to make one, be sure to adhere your interfacings to the exterior fabric, it creates a smoother finish.
Projects that I am still working on? Oh, yeah… a ton. My Grecian dress, a jeans quilt, a secretary sweater, some more bags from Dog Under My Desk, and I think I just added more Fall clothes for my kiddo. Not to mention my own Fall clothes!
What have you been whipping up lately?
