I am in love with sewing hats for babies and toddlers. It’s not just a practical item, but you can personalize them and give a bit of style to a typically normal piece of clothing. Many baby hats are knit fabrics, top knotted or just a round knit cap; sometimes you see bonnets or sun hats as well. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we do it with a little more style!
Here is a few of the fun hats I have made for some babies I know and adore.
Reese in acorns (Japanese wooden squirrel button!):

Such cuties!
Here is one in my favorite color:
This is your chance to win one of your own Bird and Bicycle baby hats! I made this in a kelly green denim with a plaid cotton interior. It has a small brim to shield little eyes from sun or rain, and a delicate bow in polka dot ribbon. The elastic back makes it easy to fit anywhere from 1 to 2 year old babies. Leave a comment to win this hat for you or a friend!
Rules:
Open to anyone, anywhere. Leave a comment with a valid email address so I can contact you easily for shipping details. Contest Ends Feb 14th, Valentine’s Day! I will pick a comment at random. Much love for babies in cute hats!
Best of luck!
MaLora
PS: Another pic of RJ in a melton wool Oliver+S hat I made for him which he is still growing into. I tacked the ears so they would stand up a bit crooked for even more style (but he is so adorable he clearly doesn’t need any help!).

I don’t need to enter – but I had to tell you I love them all! SO cute! Green’s my fav color too. =)
Thank you Brooke! With your hair and complexion you would look smashing in kelly green. Just sayin’
I’ve been looking for some nice fabric in that color for a dress for years! Maybe since it’s the color of the year, I’ll find some. =)
My birthstone is Emerald so I got all giddy when Pantone announced 2013. My mind was on jewelry but clothing would be more feasible and fun!
This is OH SO CUTE! I didn’t know you made hats! Kenzie loves wearing them apparently.
Thank you! Hats are the best!
These hats are soooo cute! I would love one for our little man who will be arriving in May
I love that they have kind of a boho/preppy feel. Very stylish!
Congratulations! My own little boy is the best. Thank you for entering!
Considered Wendy entered in the contest!
Done! Thanks for entering!
Oh my gosh Malora! Your hats are so cute! And your baby models are super cute too! You are so so talented. Thank you for including us in your fun blog. And from now on I’m going to call Maya, Maya Velveteen.
Have a great day Sugar Super Mom!
Thank you Melinda!
These hats are all too adorable, MaLora. I love the tweed hat especially. I think it’s too manly for little Wendy, so I could definitely settle for the little green one!
Thank you Cerra!
I’m loving them all especially the tweed and the green ones. So many little ones in our family right now I should learn to make them.
Thank you for reading! The Internets has many patterns and free tutorials. It is a fun and fat project!
These hats are adorable! I have a niece who would look so cute in one!
Yay! Thank you for entering.
Here in the Midwest we could use some of that style! I know the perfect baby for it
